[ as the device's screen turns on, you're treated to the sight of two ralts. they don't seem to be doing anything in particular, but that's enough to inspire makoto to pull out of her device. this thing takes pictures, right? she's not entirely sure, but if it's a phone, it's gotta have that kind of function!

so while she fiddles with her device, inadvertently turning it on, she calls out to another person. ]

Hey, Ryo! Ryo! Look! They're cute, aren't they?

[Another voice gives a light giggle at Makoto's excitement. When she's excited like this, even Ryo can't stay worried about their predicament!]

You really like them, don't you Makoto-san...? Though, to be honest, I think they're more "cool" than "cute".

Really? [ no, they definitely look cute to her. she stares a bit longer, before quietly deciding to herself that they're definitely more "cute" than "cool". but more importantly... ]

Oh! I think this is recording. [ uh... whoops? she turns her device so it's facing ryo, figuring they should give their audience something more than two cute pokemon rolling around. ] Um... quick, say something!

Eh?! Why me?!

[Ryo's shocked face takes up the entire screen. What do?! All right, back up back up... Okay, much better. Well, "something" was kinda vague, and arguing with Makoto is something Ryo doesn't want to do, so... A greeting, maybe? That's pretty basic. Time to flash a bright smile!]

Umm... H-How do you do? I'm Ryo Akizuki. I'm an idol from 876 Productions, though I don't think it really matters right now... With me, is, um... [Ryo tries to discreetly whisper, though it's pretty audible.] Makoto-san, maybe you should say something too?

[ at those words, maktoo turns the camera around so that she's the one on screen now. ]

I'm Makoto Kikuchi, from 765 Production! If I have any fans here, I don't mind giving autographs! [ she laughs a bit as she says it, making clear that she's just joking. she's hardly that popular yet. ] But anyways... it's nice to meet you!

[ she nods, satisfied by the message, before turning back to Ryo. she thinks the message has ended now, though obviously it hasn't... ]

That was good, right?

[Ryo nods, satisfied.]

Yes! You're amazing as always. [Though anything Makoto does is amazing to Ryo---] Hm? It looks like... you might have left it on.

Eh? No, I made sure I... ack, you're right!

[ makoto fumbles around with the device a bit before finally, this time successfully, turning it off. ]

[ that sounds... a little dangerous... won't she just gain weight?

but seeing how serious yayoi looks about it, makoto can't say no... she can't say no to that face. ]

[ Yayoi brightens back up, throwing her friend a wink! ]

Exactly! Ah, and it's a straight hike from New Bark Town to Cherrygrove, and then Cherrygrove to Violet, so it's not TOO too bad early on...

What happens after Violet...? Does it get bad?

N- No no no, it doesn't get BAD, it's just... um...

... you can't get to Goldenrod City unless you have a certain thing! And if you don't have it, there's a big cave you have to spend a few days walking through, and then a town, and then a huge forest with bugs and plants and things, and then-- ah, but it'll be okay if you ask someone with that certain thing to help you get past the tree that isn't really a tree, but a rock that kicks and punches!!

[ ... M-MAKOTO SHOULD PROBABLY FIND SOMEONE ELSE TO HELP EXPLAIN THINGS ABOUT JOHTO ]

Th, that sounds really... complicated...

[ kicking rock? forest with bugs? ...big cave? she feels like she should be taking notes, but with how quickly yayoi went through that she's already forgotten most of it. ]

But wow Yayoi, that means you did all of that, right?

- ah! Um, a lot of people already have the key that lets you take the shortcut from Violet to Goldenrod, so someone will probably help you if you ask nicely over the radio!

A shortcut... I feel a little bad cutting corners, but I'd like to get to Goldenrod as soon as we can. Ryo really wants to get there... they have a lot of cool stuff there, right?

That's a really good idea, Makoto-san- Goldenrod has a LOT of cool stuff! It's REALLY big- kind of like downtown Tokyo, with department stores and underground malls and a radio tower and everything- ah, and it should be easier for me to get over there to see you all, too!

Oh, are you coming to see us? I thought you were pretty far away... but yeah, that's a good idea! It'd be really nice if we could all meet somewhere. I still need to find a way to see Azusa-san's commercial... have you seen it?

[ just a tad bit jealous... ]

I'm over in Kanto, but I'm only a few days away from Saffron, and there's a huuuuge train that goes straight to Goldenrod City! It'll be a cinch to reach you and everyone else!!

[ And she nods at that second part, looking so pleased- ]

I did! Isn't Azusa-san amazing?

Oh! Then we'll be able to meet up sooner than I thought... But it'll probably take us a while to get to Goldenrod.

[ she pulls out her map, fumbling around with it a bit, before shaking her head. but anyways, more importantly... ]

She is! I really want to see it, but I guess I can't until I get to Goldenrod. [ sigh. ] Have you done anything like that, Yayoi?

[ Yayoi shakes her head, looking slightly guilty! ] Not really! I mean, I've done small performances, but nothing as major as that...

[ oh, whoops. well makoto understands that feeling... ]

It's okay, Yayoi! Just doing small performances is pretty amazing too. We just can't compete with Azusa-san, that's all... [ she's got assets they don't q_q ]
